Postgraduate Study
As leaders in child mental health and wellbeing research, we are committed to training the next generation of researchers through high-quality supervision, mentorship, and hands-on experience across diverse research methods.
Our academics provide supervision to Honours, Masters of Clinical Psychology (MCP), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students wishing to undertake research projects in the field of child mental health.
If you are interested in speaking with one of our research supervisors, please contact them directly via email (insert link to “our team” page).
Clinical Placement Opportunities
To promote the use of evidence-based parenting interventions for child mental health, we offer high-quality clinical placements for postgraduate Clinical Psychology students. These placements provide hands-on experience in delivering and evaluating interventions within a research-informed, family-focused framework.
We offer two placement opportunities throughout the year in Semester 1 (January until July) and Semester 2 (July until December). Placements are typically completed two days per week, across a 20-week period.
We encourage students to apply for a placement with us if they:
- Have a demonstrated interest in working with children and families, and
- Are passionate about integrating research and clinical practice.
If you are interested in a clinical placement opportunity, please speak with your Clinical Psychology Placement Coordinator or please contact us via email.
Professional Development Opportunities
To support the development of the Australian mental health workforce, the Child Behaviour Research Clinic provides professional development opportunities to mental health professionals, school counsellors and educators, and specialist practitioners. We offer training opportunities in a range of topics related to child mental health and wellbeing.
We also provide learning opportunities for research students in the development of skills and knowledge around child mental health research practices. These volunteer opportunities can be completed on a short-term, casual or ongoing basis. We welcome expressions of interest for research internships.
Please reach out to us via email if you are interested.
